Aitor Soroa

CV

Prof. Dr. Aitor Soroa received his PhD (2004) and B.A. (1993) in Computer Science by, and is Associate Professor in the Computer Sciences and Artificial Intelligence Department since 2007. He has published over 100 International refereed articles and conference papers in NLP, mainly in the areas of semantic processing, word sense disambiguation and the integration of NLP systems. He is a usual reviewer for top international journals including AIJ, LRE, JNLE, and JSL. He is a regular area chair and member of the program committees for top international conferences like GWC, EACL, NAACL, IJCAI, IJCNLP, *SEM, HLT, AAAI and IJCAI. Currently, he is the local lead researcher in the European MUSTER project and the DL4NLP project funded by the Industry department of the Basque Goverment. He has led the local team in the LOCLOUD European project and the ELKAROLA and BERBAOLA projects. He has also and has participated in KYOTO, PATHS, NEWSREADER and OPENER. He has also participated in several Spanish National projects (KNOW, KNOW2, BERBATEK, SKATER, READERS). Currently he is head of department of the Computer Sciencies and Artificial Intelligence in the Computer Science Faculty of the Basque Country University.
