The concept of the Digital Twin is becoming increasingly popular since it has been introduced in the scope of the Smart Industry (Industry 4.0). A Digital Twin of a concrete system is the digital counterpart (representation) of this system and has many potential benefits for simulation, prediction, analysis, and visualization, to mention just a few. The ultimate purpose of Digital Twins is to improve decision-making for solving real-world problems, by using the digital model to create the information necessary for decision-making and subsequently applying the decisions in the real world. Nowadays, Digital Twins are not limited to industrial applications but are spreading to other areas as well, such as, for example, in the healthcare domain, in personalized medicine and in clinical trials for drug development.
This workshop aims at getting a better understanding of the concept of Digital Twin and its applications in different domains, by means of ontological analysis. In this workshop, we welcome contributions that aim at introducing formal definitions of Digital Twin, but also contributions that formalize the application of Digital Twin in different domains. Contributions on ontology-based tooling for Digital Twins are also welcome.
Submitted papers should follow the guidelines of Springer LNCS format and have a maximum length of 12 pages. The papers have to be submitted electronically via EasyChair at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=odcmdt2021.
